What’s On The Ballot

At the top of the ballot, Jefferson County voters will select between Alexander Mooney and Barry Wendell for United States Congress.
All Jefferson County voters are in State Senate District 16 — Jason Barrett vs. Hannah Geffert
There are four Delegate Districts in Jefferson County (click here to find your district). The candidate choices on the ballot are:
- 97th Delegate District — John Hardy — or — Philip Wenner
- 98th Delegate District — Paul Espinosa is unopposed.
- 99th Delegate District — Wayne Clark — or — Debra Cornwell
- 100th Delegate District — Susan Benzinger — or — Bill Ridenour
For Jefferson County offices, voters will pick 2 County Commissioners, the County Clerk, and the Circuit Court Clerk.
There are also 4 Constitutional Amendments at the end of the ballot.

Where To Vote
Vote in-person at your local precinct location (polling place). Some voting locations have changed because of redistricting. You can use the “Find Your Polling Place” button on GoVoteWV.com to double-check where you vote on election day (you can also check your registration status too). The polling location is also printed on the voter registration cards mailed by the County Clerk earlier this year.
To reflect population changes counted in the 2020 Census, the West Virginia legislature redrew the borders of the state Senate and Delegate districts (the Delegate districts were re-numbered also — Jefferson County includes part of the new 97th district and all of the 98th, 99th and 100th districts).
Bring Identification To Vote
You must present an ID to vote in West Virginia. Acceptable forms of identification include: your voter registration card, driver’s license, student ID card, Medicare card, Social Security card, WV hunting or fishing license, a utility bill or bank statement showing your current address and issued within 6 months of the election, a US Passport, plus others — Visit GoVoteWV.com and click on the “Voter Identification Information” button for a complete list of ID options. If you are a first-time voter, the ID requirements are different (see the list at GoVoteWV.com).
Early Voting
The early voting location is on the 2nd floor of Charles Washington Hall (100 West Washigton St in downtown Charles Town) and is open Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm until November 5 (Saturday). The early voting location is closed on Sundays, on the Monday before Election Day, and on Election Day (you should vote in your assiged precinct voting location on Election Day). Absentee Voting
Absentee ballot requests will be accepted until 5 pm on November 2 (Wednesday). If you hand-deliver your completed absentee ballot to the County Clerk’s office, it needs to be delivered by November 7 (Monday). The Clerk’s office is in the County Courthouse at 100 East Washington St, Charles Town. If you mail your completed absentee ballot, it should be mailed before Election Day to ensure it arrives within the required time window to be counted.
