COVID-19 Vaccines & Testing

Pre-Register for COVID-19 Vaccine

All West Virginia residents over the age of 16 are encouraged to register with the West Virginia Vaccine Registration System (click here). This will help the state schedule the distribution of vaccines to each county as needed.

As of March 22, all residents 16+ are eligible to receive a vaccine (ages 65+ and those with qualifying conditions will remain a priority) The supply of vaccines is expanding, so all eligible residents are encouraged to sign up now in the state system to help the state and county plan for the expansion of clinic hours.

All vaccine clinics in Berkeley County and Jefferson County are currently by appointment only. WVU Medicine is assisting the Berkeley and Jefferson County Health Departments with the scheduling for these local health COVID-19 vaccine clinics. Residents are encouraged to register with the West Virginia Vaccine Registration System (click here) and provide a valid email and/or phone number to receive instructions on how to schedule a clinic appointment in the WVU Medicine scheduling system.

Vaccine Boost (2nd) Appointments

If you receive a first dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, you should plan to schedule a second dose of the same vaccine at the same location at which you received your first dose.

If you received a first dose at a Health Department Clinic, you will be pre-scheduled for the second dose and will be contacted to confirm your follow-up appointment. Please do not show up at the health department or other clinic on the due date written on your vaccination card. That will not be the date of your appointment.

Walgreens Pharmacy Vaccine Appointments

Walgreens Pharmacies are also administering Covid-19 vaccines at in-store pharmacies. As of March 15, West Virginia residents may use the Walgreens website (click here – look for the “schedule a vaccine icon”) to schedule an appointment. For first doses, the Walgreens website offers appointments at a specific store location up to five days in advance.

Second Doses at Walgreens – If you received your first dose at a Walgreens store prior to March 15, you can either schedule the second dose using the Walgreens website (the same link as above, but select the second dose option when prompted) or you can call the pharmacy at that store directly (select the option to speak with a pharmacist, not the “schedule a vaccine option”). If you scheduled your first dose with Walgreens directly after March 15, Walgreens will notify you about the schedule for your second dose.

— Please visit the Health Department websites and the other resource links on this page to confirm details of specific events and programs.
