snippet of future land use map

Jefferson County is required to update its comprehensive plan every 10 years. This plan acts as a vision statement for the county to guide land use for future growth and development. Each iteration of the plan looks ahead 20 years. The current plan is titled “Envision 2035” and the update will extend the scope to 2045. The Jefferson County Planning Commission takes the lead role in preparing the updates to the comprehensive plan and has scheduled a joint meeting to review the update process and goals with the County Commissioners on February 2 at 1 pm in the lower level meeting room of the Charles Town Library (200 East Washington St).

The Planning Commission is also asking for the public input via a survey link on its website. The Planning Commission expects to hold a public input meeting in early June.
