Silas House.

Shepherd University’s Center for Appalachian Studies and Communities presents Activist and Author Silas House. House has focused his work on Appalachia and is known for his lyrical style, diverse and sympathetic characters, and political engagement. Published novels include Clay’s Quilt, A Parchment of Leaves, The Coal Tattoo, Eli the Good, and Southernmost. Shepherd University professor Sylvia Shurbutt’s recently published exploration of House’s work examines his work with various issues in the context of Appalachian culture.

The event is on August 23 (Mon) at 6:30 pm at the Scarborough Library Reading Room (301 N King Street, Shepherdstown; street parking available). Free admission.
